Use the Advanced tracking settings to set your time zone, anonymise IP addresses, and track file downloads, video plays and outbound link clicks. To find them, click the Settings gear icon at the bottom left and go to Company > Website Tracker > Advanced tracking.
Before you start: You need the Manage Company access right in Leadfeeder.
File tracking
Choose which file types Leadfeeder tracks, and add your own.
Click the Settings gear icon at the bottom left.
Go to Company > Website Tracker and open the Advanced tracking tab.
Select the file extensions you want to track.
If your files are on a different hostname than the rest of your website, add that hostname to your hostname rules in your Leadfeeder settings.
To see who downloads a file, create a custom feed with a filter such as "Page URL includes PDF".
Check that each downloadable file uses one of the extensions you selected. The file's URL must end with the file type.
Video tracking
Track YouTube and Vimeo video plays on your website. On the Advanced tracking tab, turn on Video tracking.
When someone plays a YouTube or Vimeo video on your site, the play shows up in that lead's visit details:
In custom feeds, you can filter by Video play and Video title.
Outbound link tracking
Outbound link tracking records when visitors click links that leave your website: links to external websites, email (mailto:) links and phone (tel:) links. The destination of each click is collected. For email and phone links, that's the email address or phone number shown on your website.
Is it on for my account?
Existing accounts: it's off until you switch it on.
New accounts: it's on by default.
Before you switch it on
Update your own privacy notice and cookie banner so they cover outbound clicks. You'll find sample text in Web Visitors Sample Wording for Your Privacy Policy.
We recommend leaving outbound link tracking off on websites with user-generated content or many third-party links.
How to switch it on or off
Go to Settings > Company > Website Tracker and open the Advanced tracking tab.
Scroll to Outbound link tracking and use the Outbound link tracking toggle.
Exclude websites from outbound tracking
When the toggle is on, you can stop clicks to specific websites from being recorded. Add them under Hostnames to exclude from outbound tracking. Hostnames enabled in your account's traffic filters are excluded automatically.
To see where outbound clicks show up and how to build feeds from them, see Track Outbound Link Clicks in Web Visitors.
Email and phone links are always included when outbound link tracking is on. There's no separate setting for them.
