What is the Leadfeeder tracking script?

The Leadfeeder tracking script is a small piece of JavaScript on your website that identifies the companies visiting it.

Written by Ruthie Keith

The Leadfeeder tracking script is a lightweight JavaScript snippet you install on your website. It powers both Web Visitors and Web Insights, so you only need to install it once. To set it up, see Installing the Leadfeeder tracking script.

How the tracking script identifies companies

The tracking script captures each visitor's IP address, domain and location. Leadfeeder matches that data against our own IP-to-company databases to identify the visiting company in near real time.

For each company it identifies, Leadfeeder shows you company details and the contacts connected to that company, so you can reach out.

What you see for each visit

  • Time and date of the visit

  • Source and medium

  • Number of pages visited

  • Pages visited (title, URL and time on each page)

  • Visitor ID number

  • Total length of the visit

New visits usually appear within 5 to 10 minutes, so you can follow up while the visit is still recent.

The tracking script sets these cookies in the visitor's browser.
