You can import a CSV or Excel file of companies into Leadfeeder. One of the main use cases for this feature is when you have a list of key accounts, or ideal customers, you wish to then target through Campaigns, our tool for managing programmatic display campaigns. You can explore the other use cases for importing a list here.
If you have the Target solution you can import a company list through Datacare. If you have the Web Visitors solution you import through the Lists tool. We’ll explain how in this article.
Prepare your CSV or Excel file
In order to import a file into the Lists tool you need to first prepare a usable one.
To begin, prepare a file containing the company information you wish to import. Your import file can be in .csv, .xls, or .xlsx format.
The only mandatory field required for a successful import is Company Name. However, to achieve the best possible match rate for your companies, it is highly recommended to include additional identifiers. You can map any of the following columns from your file to the corresponding fields in Leadfeeder:
Company Name
Website (URL)
Email
LinkedIn URL
Address (Street, City, Country, Postal/Zip Code)
Business ID (Register ID)
VAT ID
Phone Number
During the import process, you can also choose to map additional columns from your file to preserve them. Any columns in your file that you do not need can be left unmapped.
Please note:
Avoid leaving empty rows between entries in your file.
The minimum length of the company name is 2 characters.
Instead of adding domains, you can also submit email addresses.
Save the file in the UTF-8 encoding format.
Only the first 10,000 entries will be processed and the character case will be ignored during processing.
For website addresses, it's best to remove prefixes like "www".
Import your CSV file in the Lists tool
Open the Lists tool, choose the Companies tab and select + Create Company List. It is not possible to import a list of contacts (this is considered personal data).
Give your List a name and select Save List.
Click Import File and either choose a file or drag the file on your computer/cloud drive to the upload box.
Please note: the file needs UTF-8 encoding, only the first 10.000 entries will be processed and character case will be ignored during processing.
You may be asked to map your columns to the corresponding Leadfeeder fields in order to accurately match the data from your file.
After you have mapped your data your file will be in queue to be processed. Once it has finished processing you will review your matches.
Review your matches. Select the correct match and then select Add to List. The items on your file will appear shortly in the list you created.

You can also add additional companies by searching for more in Target, or by selecting + Import to List from the 3 dot menu.
Your final List can be seen within the Companies section within the Lists tool.
If you're going on to use this imported list in Campaigns, you would select it when prompted to define your audience during the campaign setup in Step 1, as advised here.
