The Leadfeeder traffic filtering rules control all of the traffic that the Leadfeeder Tracker captures and processes on your site! With great power comes great responsibility! Be sure you input these rules carefully, and that your team does the same.

STEP 1: Navigate to your settings from the upper-right dropdown menu by clicking User Settings.

STEP 2: Click the Account tab and then Leadfeeder > Traffic Filtering.

Now you will see the Traffic filtering rules of the selected account. There are three tabs: Hostname rules, Country rules, and Page URL rules. Next, we explain what can be done on each tab and how they affect the data coming into Leadfeeder.

Hostname rules are the first seen by Leadfeeder. These are set automatically when you sign up. However, if they need to be modified due to a change in your site, or issues they can be. If there is no trouble, we recommend leaving them alone.

If you add the Leadfeeder Tracker to a new domain, you need to select the hostname to be included under the wanted account.

The example above shows the Leadfeeder Tracker tracking www.companya.com and app.companya.com as these are the only two hostnames switched to the 'on' position.

Please note: If you want to track, for example, PDF download clicks on your website, add also the domain of the PDF as a hostname. You can then create a custom feed with "Page URL includes PDF" and see which companies have downloaded the file. Please read more here.

Also, please remember that we can't add IP addresses (the numbered part of the URL) into hostnames rules, only hostnames/domain names in words.

Country rules define what visits you want Leadfeeder to identify based on their country. You would set these if you only wanted to see visits from specific countries, or if you wanted to eliminate visits from certain countries.

Please note: The filters apply to the location of the visitor and not the location of the business. It may happen that you still see a company location from one of your filtered countries if the visit occurs from outside that country but we detect that the nearest verified office is in the filtered country. Create a custom feed to filter companies by the visitor’s location.

To include specific countries select Include only and list each country desired from the drop-down and save. Each country must be selected and saved individually. If you include multiple countries, the filters work with an OR rule. For example, allow visits from Finland OR United Kingdom.

To exclude specific countries select Exclude and list each country desired from the drop-down and save. Each country must be selected and saved individually. If you exclude multiple countries the filters work with an AND rule. For example, do not allow visits from Aruba AND do not allow visits from Hong Kong.

Please note: Only max 100 countries can be defined as a country rule.

Please note: For your convenience, only our Support team can include or exclude a new Page URL rule and edit existing rules. You can contact them at support@dealfront.com or via live chat in the app.

Page URL rules define what visits you want Leadfeeder to see based on the page URLs that were visited. You would set these if you only wanted to see visits that went to specific URLs, or if you wanted to eliminate visits to specific URLs.

When including only visits that went to specific page URLs, we select Include and list each URL. Pay careful attention to the format and the rule string tips. Each URL must be entered and saved individually. When including multiple page paths, the filters work with an OR rule. For example, show visits to /blog, /product, or /pricing pages.

In the image above only visits that went to https://www.companya.com/blog or any Dealfront page that contained /product would be shown; the page www.companya.com/pricing/ would not be included.

When excluding visits to a specific page URL, we select Exclude and list each URL. Pay careful attention to the format and the rule string tips. If multiple page paths will be excluded, the filters work with an AND rule. For example, only show visits that are not to /login, and /partners pages. Please notice that only the listed page URL is excluded, not the entire visit if the visitor visits also included URLs.

In the image above only visits except those that contain /blog/ or /sign_in/ would be shown.

Traffic rules can have a significant impact on how Leadfeeder collects and identifies companies. They can also be a bit tricky to set up. In order to make sure there aren't any accidents, only Admin users can modify Hostname and Country rules. If you want to change Page URL rules reach out and our support team will help with that!
