Installing the Web Visitors Tracker onto your WordPress website is simple, and you have a couple of options!
Please note: To be able to install Web Visitors tracker in your WordPress website, you need to have either a Super Admin or Administrator user role in WordPress.
Sometimes you will need to clear the cache in WordPress before the Web Visitors Tracker gets published on your site. In that case, this article might help you further.

Option 1: Use the Web Visitors WordPress Plugin
The fastest way to install the Web Visitors tracker in your WordPress website is to use the official plugin "Web Visitors by Leadfeeder". Follow the steps below to quickly start using Web Visitors!
STEP 1: Add the Web Visitors plugin just as you would any other, by going to Add New under your Plugins menu inside WordPress.
STEP 2: Search for the "Web Visitors by Leadfeeder" plugin
STEP 3: From the search results, find the Web Visitors plugin as shown below and click Install Now.
STEP 4: Once your plugin is installed make sure you activate it using one of the methods as shown below.
STEP 5: After activating the plugin, click on the "Web Visitors by Leadfeeder" plugin in the sidebar and paste the Website Tracker ID.
If you've just signed up, you can quickly find the Website Tracker ID here. In the future you can always find the tracker ID in your User Settings > Company > Website Tracker > Tracking Script.
STEP 6: Don’t forget to save your changes in WordPress!

NOTE: If the tracker is still not working, try adding the new website in your Traffic filtering rules in your Leadfeeder User Settings, under the Account tab.
Option 2: Install the Web Visitors tracker using Google Tag Manager
Another way to install Web Visitors in your website is to install Tracker with Google Tag Manager. If you already have Google Tag Manager (GTM) on your site, then using it is also fast and easy.
Option 3: Insert the Web Visitors Tracker Using a Child Theme or Plugin
Please note: If you aren't familiar with WordPress and themes please reach out to a member of your team or use one of the other methods listed. You can negatively impact your site if a theme update is done incorrectly.
We do not recommend pasting the Web Visitors Tracker directly into your main theme’s header.php file, as it may be overwritten during a theme update.
Instead, you have two safer options:
A. Use a Header/Footer Plugin (Recommended)
Install a plugin like WPCode or Insert Headers and Footers. These plugins let you safely add scripts to your site's <head> section without touching any theme files.
Install and activate the plugin of your choice.
Paste your Web Visitors Tracker script into the header section.
Save and publish.
B. Use a Child Theme
If you're using a child theme (which preserves custom changes during theme updates), you can:
Go to Appearance > Theme File Editor in your WordPress dashboard.
Select your child theme and open the header.php file.
Paste your Web Visitors Tracker script just before the closing </head> tag.
Be sure to copy it exactly as shown in your User settings. Using the copy to clipboard option and pasting from there is best.
Once you have the script inserted, click Update File in WordPress.
Once everything is set up properly and new visits are seen, it can take up to an hour to show you new companies in Web Visitors. Hang in there!
